over the past few months this silly, awkward little blog is has been read by more and more people. i'm sure it boils down to mostly friends or acquaintances - but there are a few of you from around the country whom i do not know. so it is to all of the above that i ask a question...a poll of sorts...
(i dearly love providence and see a divine place for me here in many ways... but) as i consider a number of options and current events - what cities would you recommend, if i were to adopt a new city as home? where have you been? (simply entertaining thoughts/prayers)
1. portland (community, culture)
2. seattle (seminary, culture)
3. boston (job potential, friends)
4. dc (job potential)
5. grand rapids (guess - ha)
6. ashville n.c. (friends)
7. philly (an interesting job/living connection)
weigh in - thanks for the input.

anywhere except portland
I guess you'd have to define your purpose more. If you feel there is more to learn in other places that you cannot learn where you are, then it would make sense to move. Are you pursuing more education, experience, or job related financial gain? Answer that, and you may be closer to finding that city.
I vote never leave Providence. I know you see a place for yourself there but I don't think you realize how many lives you impact and are continuing to impact by being there. I know that Sanctuary would go on without you and I know you're trying to make it be a place where it would still prosper without you but it's just not going to happen, sorry. Seriously, at the risk of sounding cheesy, you being there changed my life and I've seen it start to change the lives of the friends I brought there. So yes, there is my opinion on the matter.
Yeah, I'm sure that is what Abram could have said or Moses, when they heard God calling them out. If God is calling you to change your scenery, or to move and grow for the purpose of maturity and growth...then you have no choice (well you do, but...)to follow His voice. Ask yourself: Am I running from problems? Am I going for growth and challenge? Who is this feeling coming from? then pray...
i agree with suzanna. as weird as it sounds. i want to see you when i get back. and....i know that there are SO many people on whose lives you have a tremendous impact. even if they might not tell you. it's true. i know from myself. dude, we NEED to talk. i'll call. sometime soon. i promise.
but well, if God calls you elsewhere...then you might have to go. it's just..
i dunno. pray.
connecticut!! because it could use a dose of coolness. lol. no really, do whatever. I suppose providence is cool, never really been there except to visit my sister, but that was like, 6 or 7 years ago. Where I live is cool. It's in Connecticut, tiny little city. But cool. And Providence is only a little while away!!! But I think you should stay in Providence since the only reason I think Connecticut would be better is because it is lame and needs some coolness.
CONS
1. portland - a little cold
2. seattle - a little rainy
3. boston - the suburbs aren't worth the move
4. dc - a little political, you may get absorbed in that
5. grand rapids - the territory is def taken care of
6. ashville - the south is the south, even if the town has its artsy-rep
7. philly - a little murderous
PROS
You probably all ready know those
