a brief reflection upon a late awakening

One who genuinely loves does not love but once. Nor does he offer only part of his love -- not a bit here and a bit there. It is wholly present in each expression. He continues to give it away as a whole, and yet he keeps it intact as a whole in his heart. Wonderful riches! When the miser has gathered all the worlds gold in sordidness, then he has become poor. Yet when the lover gives away his whole love, he keeps it entire - in the purity of his heart.
Kierk.

john 13:34 says, “a new commandment i give to you, that you love one another; as i have loved you,… love one another.” we are to let God’s light shine brightly through our love. let us love one another, for love is of God. every kindness done to others (even to the people we like the least) is a kindness done to Him. as written in the book of leviticus (19:18), “forget about the wrong things people do to you, and do not try to get even. love your neighbor as you love yourself. i am the Lord”

after given the command to love in the book of deuteronomy the people are told this…

6 The commandments I give you today must be in your hearts. 7 Make sure your children learn them. Talk about them when you are at home. Talk about them when you walk along the road. Speak about them when you go to bed. And speak about them when you get up. 8 Write them down and tie them on your hands as a reminder. Also tie them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses. Also write them on your gates.

brilliant.

love is the best thing that ever happens to anyone. beauty is of course external, love is very much internal. love is an emotion which flows from your heart; it is a strong feeling of affection, loyalty, and concern for someone… it cannot be compelled… it is a promise…. a souvenir… once given – never forgotten, never let it disappear…it brightens your days and nights and true love creates no shadows…

... and there is this book - song of songs, which gives us pictures of the relationship between a man and a woman - the joy, the struggle, the complexity of love...

song of songs 2:7 -

I charge you
by the gazelles and by the does of the field:
Do not arouse or awaken love
until it so desires.

it's almost as if she says, "you know whatever this is, it's so good, it's so beautiful - and we can't do anything to mess this up." - we see love's patience, endurance, it's need for protection. how often do we fail to believe in love at all.

----

new every morning is the love
our wakening and uprising prove;
through sleep and darkness safely brought,
restored to life and power and thought.

writing on the doorframes of my houses.

that’s all. (i pray this doesn't read too tangental in the morning.)

love is what brightens your nights. oh man. andrew. love is amazing.

never forgotten.

it really isn't. i don't know if you remember....but there was that one tie when you just showed this little gesture of love, which meant the world to me in a situation when i so desperately needed it. well, i remember it as if it had just been a minute ago. and i am so very thankful.

love.

the most. amazing. thing. in. the. whole. world - because it shows God, because God IS love.

much love to you! ;)
