ts elliot + soup = everything in it's right place

a few days ago my friend hannah sent me (and some other poetry/elliot/lent-minded friends) "ash wednesday" by ts elliot.

it's timing was...timely.

as i checked to see who else she had sent it to (the list made me smile) i was reminded of the power in communal reflection - communal mediation - communal prayer. ash wednesday in particular is this powerful time where the greater community is called to embrace our frailty and the forgiveness of God. through consistent confession, we admit to God [and ourselves] the ways we sever peace... with each other and with Love.

i guess i had this brief vision of the people who were copied on the email reading it at the same time, soaking in its truth, allowing questions to surface, confession to occur and repentance to begin. fellowship/ oneness / of the same mind.

take some time to read elliots piece if you can.

this sunday i'll be sharing a bit on intimate dance between community/fellowship and what it means to be IN CHRIST - and as an outflow from that offer a slightly different suggestion for lent involving the Shema.

i am not so sure about the soup, but t.s. eliot is RAD! :)

thank you for posting this! i read a few lines of "ash wednesday" as hannah's tagline, and saved the whole thing on my computer but didn't have the time to read it until today, and i am just so glad about your reminder here because i probably wouldn't have taken the time. ANYWAY. much love to you, andrew. let's actually TALK soon. :)
