perspective - sunday music

“I disliked very much their hymns, which I considered to be fifth-rate poems set to sixth-rate music. But as I went on I saw the great merit of it. I came up against different people of quite different outlooks and different education, and then gradually my conceit just began peeling off. I realized that the hymns (which were just sixth-rate music) were, nevertheless, being sung with devotion and benefit by an old saint in elastic-side boots in the opposite pew, and then you realize that you aren’t fit to clean those boots. It gets you out of your solitary conceit.”
C.S. Lewis “God in the dock”

on a seemingly contradictory note:
jeff sent me someones list of "least favorite church songs" and why.
[here]

i thought it'd be interesting to take a poll.

so... two songs you love and two songs you loathe (or don't particularly get into) on sunday nite and why.

Oh man, I really wish that article wasn't out dated. I am curious to see what his top five list would be today.

I don't know about Sunday night, cause I'm not there very much but the majority of worship songs I don't really like. For so many reasons, but mostly from a musical perspective. They just aren't very creative.

I'm learning to get over it, partly due to that fact that I'm starting to lead worship at a church and unfortunately there is some sort of expectation about the songs that should be played. (That will change) I could go on forever about why I don't like more than half the worship music out there, but I'll get to the point.

There is one song that comes to mind, and without more ranting about the band, or the movement I'll just briefly explain why I don't like the song.

Mighty To Save - Hillsong.
"My God is Mighty to save
He is Mighty to save"

Ok, I'm not an English major, so correct me if I'm wrong, but does that make sense grammatically in any way?
