:: it's nothing really - you have bigger problems. darfur #944
:: on an up note. the church community i'm apart of [sanctuary] raised over $21,000 this past christmas for a new health clinic in wad madani, sudan. x ray machines, vitamins, aids kits, malaria kits, medical supplies etc...it was an amazing thing to take part in. this was again at christmas.
according to our sudanese contact, in africa and specifically the sudan - things happen slowly. i was supposed to accompany the shipment to the sudan months ago - but in the wake of more problems in the south (recovering from a brutal civil war) and darfur, all tourist visas were blocked. anyway, long story short the medical supplies are finally on there way over! and the doctor who was in charge of ordering the supplies was able to turn our $21,000 worth of supplies into $35,000. REJOICE. i should have more details in the coming weeks on whats happening at the new health clinic.
i'll post the letter i received from the sudan later. it includes a few fun details. it's late.
feel free to meet me at the exchange tomorrow if you're up for a cup of coffee, a chat, a game of chess, a cinnamon twist, maybe a conversation over the front page of the ny times, or some new music (i don't want to waste...) / old music (honey and the moon), reading quietly, couscous, or a hug.
goodnight. i pray you find peace amidst the storm.
